Stuck in the Mud

2BusyBroads
I grew up walking distance from the water and when it was a low tide or after the water receded from a flood the mud would stink. And the mud covered everything and kept its prey firmly planted in its dirty, stinky, spot.

There are moments when I feel stuck, like the bad attitude is keeping me from moving forward. The most frequent ways I get stuck revolve around my feeling of unworthiness, being busy, and the ill effects of a disease.

I get stuck and my husband tells me that my attitude stinks.

Edi's truck was broken into three years ago and a few days ago she received a pretty incredible phone call. Her purse, wallet, and debit card were found in the mud of a local dried up river bed--stuck, held in place for three years.

Being stuck in our mud keeps us from moving forward.

I taught a class on this topic and people shared words like, "he tells me I am being mean", "I get so tired the kids tell me that I need a nap", "I want things to be done my way."

QUESTION: What does your being stuck look like?

I still can't believe they found my stuff after all this time!
I get stuck when I have too many things to do! I know it all needs to get done today, but where do I start? Until I get my to do list prioritized, I'm stuck like a deer in the headlights!

Edi, I love that analogy. I feel like that, too, and that is normally when my husband says that he wants me to cut back on something and say no.

I got goosebumps (the good kind) reading about Edi's lost and found wallet! How amazing is that?!
I love how the elephants look so happy playing in the mud :)
What I do when I feel stuck? I just move - literally. Like going for a walk in the park or mopping the floor. It really helps to clear the head!

your husband's comment "it stinks" and your story are great together. I guess I get stuck when I'm afraid to take chances. {:-D

Wow...that's incredible about Edi's stuff. I guess I missed that in our discussion over the weekend;) I get that way...too frequently I think. It's so much easier to let yourself get run down and miserable than to actually work to prevent it. We need to all learn to do this!

Wow, 3 years and it was returned to her. That's pretty amazing.
I guess my stuck in the mud sort of looks like someone walking around with a HUGE pack on their back. I let things pile up until I feel like I'm carrying everything on my shoulders.

I get stuck when I feel overwhelmed. I don't know what to do first and I don't like to do anything half-way so things end up not getting done. My hubby knows better than to comment on my attitude though! :)

What a perfect representation of being "Stuck in the mud." I know exactly what you mean. I feel that way too sometimes.

Having too much on our plates and not being able to say no always leads to feeling stuck... if only being kind to ourselves should be a priority but it sounds like we all forget that first when it's getting muddy. hmmm...

wonderful analogy! This post has evoked some great comments, too!
Yes, of course I've felt stuck. What I hate most is feeling stuck in gloom. Then I just need to take my mind to a different place--praying, looking at nature (maybe with my camera), playing with kitties, working on a project.
